MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO MAKING OUR ANNUAL PĄCZKI DAYS FUNDRAISER ON FAT THURSDAY FEBRUARY 12 AND FAT TUESDAY FEBRUARY 17, 2015 A REMARKABLE SUCCESS!
We are very appreciative of Governor Bruce Rauner for visiting the PAA and celebrating Fat Thursday on February 12th and Mayor Rahm Emanuel for visiting the PAA and celebrating Fat Tuesday on February 17. Both were able to meet with the PAA’s Board, Staff and clients.
We sold more than 5,000 pączki and raised over $17,000.
Our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Bogna Solak, our board member, who annually donates pączki and lets us sell them at the seven locations of her business, Oak Mill Bakery.
And special thanks to: Adam’s Jewelry for donating the silver jewelry to be randomly placed inside the pastry as a sweet surprise for some lucky winners and Polish Radio WNVR1030 AM and Polvision for offering us free air time to promote PAA’s programs and Paczki Days fundraiser. During President Obama’s trip to Chicago on Tuesday, the PAA’s Grazyna Zajaczkowska met with the President for a round table discussion on issues of concern to the Chicago Civic Ethnic Leadership. This meeting preceded the President’s speech at the Copernicus Center where he presented the broad outline of his immigration policy as well as a request that all parties work together for the passage of a comprehensive immigration reform act. The President reminded the audience that the United States is a nation of immigrants, woven into one fabric.
