Wasilewski Family Reunites After Four-Year Struggle

Yesterday, August 8th, 2011 at 4 P.M. at Chicago O’Hare International Airport Janina Wasilewska who was deported from US in May 2007 received a very worm welcome home from her US citizen husband Tony, friends, supporters and media.

Her story, well documented in the film Tony and Janina’s American Wedding by Chicago-area filmmaker Ruth Leitman, has been known to immigration reform supporters for many years. The presence of US Rep. Luis Gutierrez, TV and other main stream and ethnic media constituted a visible victory for those who are still being tormented by US broken immigration system.

The Polish American Association helped reunite Tony and Janina Wasilewski and their US born son by sending letters of support to US congress representatives.The PAA also  provided personal counseling throughout the ordeal.The Polish American Association wishes Wasilewski’s family all the best as they rebuild their lives. May they enjoy a prosperous future in the US.
