TED & BARBARA MARTIN

Ted Martin a World War II veteran and a POW, was a soldier in the Home Army (AK) and actively participated in the Polish Underground and the Warsaw Uprising.   He is a survivor of Aleja Szucha, Pawiak and Warsaw Concentration Camp – Gesiowka.

After WWII, Mr. Martin found his way to the U.S. and proved that work, dedication and the occasional stroke of genius can get you the American Dream.  Mr. Martin is the President of Parkway Metal Products, Inc.  He is a philanthropist, respected entrepreneur and a life member of the Society of American Inventors.

Mr. Martin was awarded the Krzyz Kawalerski Orderu Zaslugi Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej by President Lech Kaczynski.  He is also the recipient of the Gold Honor Badge of the Home Army Foundation for his support of handicapped and ill soldiers, and assistance in spreading the history of the Polish Underground and the Home Army.  Mr. Martin believes one’s life achievements are measured by the extent of enriching the lives of others.

Barbara Swionder-Martin is a former teacher from Poland and a dedicated sponsor of Polish culture in Chicago.   In 1998 she founded FAME ART – a company endorsing Polish art painters in the United States.  She is a co-founder of the Polish American Leadership-Political Action Committee. Barbara is a very proud grandmother of Ignacja and Teodor.

Ted & Barbara Martin are active members of the Polish American community, supporting the arts, culture and tradition by sponsoring the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra and the Northwest Center of Traditional Polish Dancing - promoting Polish classical music and dancing in the United States.

They have been recognized by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Wing of Memory Society and received the Gold Honor Badge of the Home Army Foundation.
