PAA Partnership with the Haitian American Congress

December 4, 2023

The Polish American Association is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Haitian American Congress, a coalition of organizations in the Chicagoland area serving the Haitian American community. Beginning early next year, the PAA and the Haitian American Congress will offer Haitian American Chicagoans English language courses, and plan to extend other services to the community thereafter. This partnership is the latest chapter of the PAA’s mission to serve today’s diverse immigrant communities.

Recently the PAA was an honored guest at a Battle of Vertières event sponsored by the Haitian American Congress, celebrating Haiti’s independence from French rule in 1803. In this clip (https://youtu.be/AAelmpdlXXk) the Honorable Lionel Jean-Baptiste, judge for the 9th Subcircuit of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois, explains how Polish soldiers originally conscripted to fight for Napoleon’s army soon switched sides and joined Haitians fighting for their independence.

Happy Pulaski Day 2023!

March 3, 2023

The Polish American Association wishes everyone a very happy Pulaski Day!
This local holiday commemorates and celebrates the birthday of Casimir Pulaski, a Revolutionary War cavalry officer, born in Poland as Kazimierz Pułaski, who is often called “the father of the American cavalry.” We celebrate General Pulaski’s contributions to the US military and the American Revolution. Pulaski Day is a legal holiday in Illinois, therefore the PAA’s offices are closed on Monday, March 6th, 2023.

Ukrainian Orthodox Christmas Gifts Delivered

January 9, 2023

At our 2022 holiday celebration, PAA staff brought their own wrapped presents for the children as our small gift to our #UkrainianRefugee immigration families. These were delivered on Orthodox Christmas to the #Ukrainian Church and we're glad to have brought some tenderness and joy to these children.

Currently, PAA is serving programs in Polish, Ukrainian, and Spanish, bridging the idea that at one point or another, we have each come from an immigrant bravely seeking a new life. The PAA's #Polish heritage proudly carries on by making immigrants welcome and settled in their new lives in the United States.
PAA is certified, licensed, and supported by the #DepartmentofJustice, the #USCIS, #IllinoisCommunityCollegeBoard, the #IllinoisState'sAttorney'sOffice, multiple offices of the #CityofChicago, #CookCountyBoard and #ICIRR. We are grateful for their partnership so those most vulnerable among us receive the best-in-class services from us.

If you, or someone you know, needs services, PAA is a safe and approved provider for immigration, education, and multiple social programs and benefits access. We are a registered 501c3 charity founded in 1922. Thank you for your continued support.
