Violent Crime Victim Assistance

Domestic Violence program offers bilingual comprehensive services to survivors and victims of domestic violence and their vulnerable family members. Participants receive emotional support, information about their rights and legal options, referrals to resources and assistance with creating a safety plan to keep themselves and their children out of danger. Through Domestic Violence services victims learn that they are not alone and that they do have a choice other than suffering at the hands of an abusive partner.

Services include:
individual and group counseling for victims of domestic violence

  • crisis intervention
  • assistance in locating available shelter
  • therapy for children who have witnessed domestic violence
  • assistance in filing police reports
  • assistance in obtaining civil/criminal Order of Protection
  • referrals and linkage to legal services
  • assistance with Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-sponsorship immigration cases
  • interpretation and translation services


PAA also offers Crime Victim Compensation program funded by the State of Illinois Attorney General's Office. The goal of the program is to help the victims of violent crimes to receive all the possible assistance for which they are eligible. PAA staff assist victims of crime in completing applications to compensate them for medical costs, loss of earnings and other expenses. The program also provides victims with counseling to help them deal with traumatic experiences of a crime.
In addition, we provide community outreach and educate public on issues of domestic violence and available victims services.
