AWARDS
• On November 10th, 2010, PAA has been awarded the 2010 Citibank Illinois Polish Heritage Award for the commitment and dedication to the Polish Community
• On December 1, 2009, PAA’s After School Program was presented to the Award for Outstanding Performance in Youth Development in 2008-2009 by the Mayor’s Office and the Chicago Department of Family and Support Service
• In October 2009, PAA was awarded the Exceptional Service Award for Outstanding Advocacy and Leadership in the Community in the area of Domestic Violence by the Honorable Dorothy Brown.
• On November, 2007, The White House awarded PAA Employee and a dedicated volunteer Henryka Blusiewicz with the President’s Volunteer Service Award. The Award was presented by Katie R. Loovies – The White House Associate Director USA Freedom Corps and Alfonso Aguilar, Chief USCIS Office of Citizenship.
• On June 2, 2006, Donor2 fundraising solutions announced that Barbara Sobecka from PAA was awarded 2006 Donor2 Conference Scholarship. The conference was held July 16-19, 2006 in Charlotte, NC.
• In 2005, PAA KidCare agent Anna Jastrzebska was awarded the KidCare Excellence in Service Award in recognition of her outstanding efforts to reach Illinois’ uninsured children.
• On October 20, 2004, PAA was among seven organizations to receive SBC Illinois’ Beyond the Call Community Award in recognition for outstanding local community commitment and service programs. PAA was honored for making a difference and improving the quality of life in northwest Chicago and surrounding communities.
• On October 14, 2004,the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County honored PAA, and four other organizations as part of its "Above and Beyond" domestic violence awareness program that honors those who provide assistance to those in need of safety and support.
• In October 2004, Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) awarded PAA the highest performance grant for an Illinois community-based organization. The performance grants are based on student progress and attendance at English-As-A-Second Language (ESL) classes.
• PAA was one out of ten organizations to be selected to earn the Illinois KidCare Achievement Award for its work in enrolling Illinois kids into the state’s Healthcare program for children of working families.
• 0n March 10, 2004 PAA’s KidCare Program received The Certificate of Recognition for an Outstanding Achievement in the CAP/KidCare Project.
• In May 2003, PAA was awarded the Silver Statue Award from the Association of Journalists of the Republic of Poland for its outstanding success in serving Polonia. Each year the organization recognizes the most effective and successful Polish organizations in Poland and abroad.
• In 2003, PAA Homemaker Program Supervisor Joanna Tkacz received an Honorable Mention for Supervisor of the Year from the Illinois Association of Community Care Program Homecare Providers.
• On May 2002, PAA KidCare agent Anna Jastrzebska was awarded the KidCare Excellence in Service Award in recognition of her outstanding efforts to reach Illinois’ uninsured children.
• PAA Homemaker Barbara Kasza was awarded the prestigious 2002 Mary I. Hill Homecare Assistant Award by the Illinois Association of Community Care Program Homecare Providers. She was selected from 21 nominations to receive this award.
• In December 2001, the Illinois Department of Human Services recognized PAA’s Northside Office among the top performing KIDCare Application Agents in the State for its outstanding performance as a Kid Care Agent in 2001.
• In April 2000, United Way Chicago nominated PAA as one of six agencies to receive an excellence award for achievement in quintennial evaluation preparation.
• In November of 1999, the Polish American Police Association of Chicago presented to PAA the Distinguished Award of Appreciation in grateful recognition for years of dedicated and outstanding service to the City of Chicago and the Polish Community
• In 1998, Polish American Association received the Illinois Job Training Partnership Act General Program Award for its Vocational Training Program. PAA was one of only four programs in the state to receive this recognition.
• The Illinois Association of Non-Profit Organizations presented the Polish American Association with the Merit Award – Promotional Brochures in the 1998 Non-Profit Publications Competition. The brochure was Honoring the Past, Strengthening the Future.
• The Illinois Association of Non-Profit Organizations presented the Polish American Association with the Distinguished Award – Annual Reports in the 1997 Non-Profit Publications Competition.
• In September 1997, the Social Security Administration Commissioner’s Award
was presented to Non-Citizen Team, Karen Popowski, Polish American Association
in recognition of compassionate and effective efforts to work with those non-citizens affected by the Welfare Reform Act of 1996
• In November 1996, Chairman Thaddeus Makarewicz and Executive Director
Karen Popowski receives the Cavalier’s Cross for Merit of the Republic of Poland, one of Poland’s highest civilian honors.
• The Association of Chicago Priests presented the Polish Welfare Association
with the 1996 Coordinating Board Award for outstanding contributions to the life of the church of Chicago.
• United Way/Crusade Mercy presented Goal Buster to employees of Polish Welfare Association for increasing their contribution by ten percent. 1996 Campaign.
• The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Protection presented the 1995 Give Liberty a Hand Outstanding Achievement Award to Polish Welfare Association for outstanding leadership in Chicago’s Polish Community and for advancing the rights of all immigrants and refugees.
• In August 1994, Lt. Governor Bob Kustra presented an award to our three-year old substance abuse outpatient treatment program as the exemplary treatment program in the state of Illinois.
• On February 18, 1992, the Advocates Society presented the Award of Merit to Polish Welfare Association in recognition of its 70 years of continuing contributions to the advancement of the Polish-American Community of the Chicago-Area
• United Way Ambassador Agency presented to Polish Welfare Association an award comments dedication of time and talent to the United Way.
