PAA Junior Board Election!

The election of President, Vice President and Secretary of the Junior Board of Polish American Association will take place soon! The Board is currently seeking potential candidates whom it can recommend to vacant Board positions. We are hoping to propose additional candidates at our upcoming meetings, and it will vote on all candidates presented. The Board welcomes everyone. Please think carefully about whether you'd like to become a potential candidate to fill a vacant Board position.

Requirements:

  • Be actively involved in at least one area of Junior Board activities or programs,
  • Plan and attend regularly-scheduled monthly Board meetings,
  • Volunteer for and participate in at least one Board committee,
  • Think creatively about ways in which JPPAA may better serve its members and the greater Chicago community, and be prepared to turn those thoughts into action.

Board members typically serve a two-year term. If you would like to be considered, or if you know of someone you believe would be a good candidate for a position on the Board, please contact Kamila Baczek, President of the Polish American Association at This email address is being protected from spambots. ONA was a success!

On International Women’s Day, March 8, 2018, the Polish American Association (PAA) hosted its second ONA gathering; a conversation among immigrant women about the lives and aspirations of immigrant women. Turnout increased over last year with more than 25 women in attendance at ‘Chicago’s most creative meeting and event space,’ Catalyst Ranch, owned by Polish American entrepreneur Eva Niewiadomski. Board member Eva Prokop served as our facilitator. The edtech firm GetSet, provided their electronic platform, re-imagined, for creating an electronic meeting place for our constituents to grow their community. Not only did GetSet modify their platform for ONA, but they trained the group to use it and by the time we got home last night, a dozen conversations had begun. ONA is important not only because it provides a forum for immigrant women to meet, explore their common concerns, and develop new empowering relationships, but as a friend-raiser to build a constituency of younger Polish women to carry PAA’s leadership into the future.

A special thank you to Michael Traison, our board and staff, who helped raise over $5000 in honor of International Womans Day, and ONA!
