PAA Supports Social Justice

ENGLISH

The PAA has been a source of hope for countless individuals for nearly 100 years. Throughout that time, we have served immigrant and non-immigrant alike; those who sought a safe haven from oppression, those who struggled to make a new home, and those who needed our advocacy to ensure they had the opportunity to live free and realize their dreams. In these last several days, we are reminded of the PAA’s historic commitment to social justice for all people. From the days of our first arrivals in Chicago, equity for all has been, and remains, a core value for the PAA as we serve populations in need, and populations at risk of discrimination or exclusion.

As the PAA enters its second century of service, its new strategic plan and mission – Rooted in Polish heritage for a century, PAA advances today’s diverse immigrant communities – we are speaking out on behalf of all we serve; those who suffer injustice, and those whose voices are not heard. The sounds and sight of the violence that has erupted overwhelm the hundreds of thousands of peaceful nonviolent protesters across the country and in our own City. We who have known oppression and injustice must lend our voices to demand a fair and compassionate advocate where racism has no home. Let us come together now and face these challenges as a community whose history has been one rooted in these very same struggles. We must lead at a time when it is most difficult because that is exactly when we can draw on our familiar, shared experiences and love of freedom, equality, and justice.

Zrzeszenie Amerykańsko-Polskie wchodzi w drugie stulecie swojego istnienia. My, którzy znamy ucisk i niesprawiedliwość, dołączamy się do głosów żądających sprawiedliwości i współczucia i potępienia rasizmu. Stańmy razem jako społeczność, której historia zawiera takie same wyzwania.
